Much information about ancient Mayan culture has been uncovered in modern times. These findings reveal a culture that had a complex understanding of the cycles of time and the movement of our planet in relation to the cosmos.

The Mayans used the Long Count (a period of 5,125 years) to measure the cycles of time. Many researchers believe the current cycle will come to a close on December 21, 2012. Astronomers have also discovered that on this approximate date our solar system will come into a rare alignment with the center of our Milky Way galaxy (which the Mayans referred to as HuNabKu or the Giver of Movement and Measure).

There's been much speculation on what these events portend for our planet and humanity. Several crop circles (www.cropcircleconnector.com) discovered in recent years relate to the Mayan calendar and its geometries, which many believe to be a powerful sign of things to come. A worldwide movement has been gaining momentum of people who choose to prepare for a shift to a higher way of existing-an expansion of human consciousness leading to a new era of peace and return to balance in all areas of life.

The Planetary Art Network (PAN) has a mission of restoring our planet to the 13 moon calendar used by ancient Mayans, by the year 2012. They believe the illogical structure of our Gregorian Calendar only serves to confuse and disconnect humans from the cycles of nature. The League of Nations even agreed upon changing to a 13 moon calendar in the 1930's but was vetoed by the Vatican on grounds it would cause chaos!
